Initial Teacher Training

Information about the Initial Teacher Training Course.

Overview

Schools have increased responsibility to offer ongoing in-house CPD to their student teachers. This contributes to their training and in turn develops well rounded teachers whose practice is underpinned by educational theory.

Our ITT hub is a network of our student teachers who come together regularly throughout the year to receive bespoke input in pedagogy and practice ranging from positive behaviour management to subject knowledge in key areas of the curriculum.

The model aims to bridge the gap between theory and practice. All of this is provided in addition to the sessions that are offered at university, and sessions are led by our most experienced teachers and leaders in our schools.

The ITT Hub has been identified by OFSTED in their report on the IOE as both innovative and a model of best practice. Based on their recommendation this model, originating within Primary Advantage, is being rolled out across London and beyond.

We are delighted to have partnered with the IOE-UCL in recent years to host a series of joint “Professional Studies” modules in some of our schools, as well as offering the students at PA our own in-house ITT Hub Sessions throughout their placements.
